The account centres around a family situated at Littlebeck near Whitby, North Yorkshire and follows the family as they continue to live their lives as Catholics in penal times. Secret masses, funerals at midnight, court appearances, fines and imprisonment are just some of the trials that the family and the other Catholic families of England faced.
